Where are no dreams there is no development A change of mindset could lift a country to considerable heights and the rest would just fall in place.
The human race is facing so many problems right now: massive housing deficit, poverty, extreme inflation, no proper jobs, no encouragement, very poor education system, lack of appreciation for craft. The Academy is an upcoming initiative in Ghana dedicated to promoting sustainability, environmental education, and community development. Our vision is to create a hub where knowledge, innovation, and action come together to build a greener, healthier future for all.
2/3 of women unemployed and often alone with kids, almost no awareness of the urging climate change issues. In many communities today, women continue to face the heavy expectation of being the primary caregivers for children, often at the expense of their personal growth, careers, and financial independence. This dynamic creates a cycle where women’s talents and skills remain underutilized, contributing to economic inequality and reinforcing outdated gender roles.
The Eco Academy for change makers has exactly that in mind. We want to show you ways out of that situation, encourage, train and go the extra mile with each and every individual who joins us. To become better parents and role models one day and live a happy and fulfilled life.
Our academy will use the introduction and building of eco-houses as the engine to drive the academy, you will be introduced to the climate change issue, so you even understand a change is crucial! We will train mainly handy crafts from the house construction over carpentry to cooking and agriculture study. More than 120 professions will be thought and in a very different and new approach than you may be used to. Learning shall be fun and excitement not boring or frustrating!
We are going to build the FIRST and ONLY Eco House Architectural Exhibition worldwide here in Ghana! Don't you want to be part of it?!
Since a house – not eco houses, do need much more than walls and roofs, we are making lamps, furniture, state of the art plaster techniques, upholstery up to gardening, paintings, decoration and so much more. We do make gorgeous sinks, doors, which can almost be called pieces of art.
But we also offer fine art, like all kind of paper craft from fine jewels to furniture! YES! textile art, modern healthy cooking, baking and patisserie. Check the courses we offer and teach.
We know there are so many skilful young people out there, who don’t even have an idea, what life could offer them. Most important for us is a permanent focus and support on how to turn your new skills and knowledge into start-ups, entrepreneurship and employment! Not just a “certificate” is the most important at the end, but creating meaningful and fulfilling jobs and entrepreneurs, who again cater for additional employment.
It is not so much about re-inventing the wheel or doing any magic, It is about changing the point of view/perspective and a lot of ENCOURAGEMENT
Here are some of the main issues we want to tackle in general:
Widespread ignorance of environmental issues
Disrespect for handiwork and craftsmanship in Ghana
A housing deficit of 1.8 million homes, especially for ordinary people
Overdependence on imports
Energy challenges and increasing water shortages
An official unemployment rate of over 13 percent
Deep hopelessness and a sharply rising youth crime rate
Low levels of education and a general fear or distrust of educational institutions
Very high school fees, yet many schools still fail to prepare students for further education
Vocational training programs that are not up to standard
A lack of promotion and support for creativity in Ghana
Widespread absence of even basic understanding of business practices
Lack of leadership qualities across many sectors
Few role models and little motivation for young people
A shortage of job opportunities even after completing vocational training or university
Poor access to financial resources for start-ups
High levels of passivity and a tendency to blame others
Creativity is often mocked, killing dreams at an early stage
A lack of holistic approaches to problem-solving
Little to no added value applied to locally made products
Poor understanding of customer service
Women are often left behind, standing at the very end of the line, or abandoned as single mothers with no education and no financial support
